Our Story

“All for God and for His Glory. In whatever you do, think of the Glory of God as your main goal.” - Saint John Bosco

How It All Started

The welcoming of our daughter, Catherine, provided an opportunity for the start of Catholic Woodworking LLC. After prayful consideration, we decided Jaclyn (wife, mother) would continue to work outside of the home while Peter (husband, father) would take care of Catherine during the day.
The new season of fatherhood, in the setting of being the primary caretaker during the work week, was initially difficult. Prior to this role, Peter worked as an HVAC technician and was used to working a manual labor job.

Soon after Jaclyn returned to work, and Peter was home with Catherine; Peter realized he missed the ability to apply his creative talents to his daily work. We, again, leaned on the Lord’s guidance and said ‘yes’ to the opening of our own business.

History

Peter woodburns all images by hand using a pyrography pen (shown in the photo above). He was first introduced to this form of art as a seventh grader, but it was not until Peter was in seminary that he began to create Catholic art.

As a seminarian, Peter utilized art as an avenue for prayer and meditation. This crucifix (shown to the left) was one of his first images created during this time; it took him numerous small sessions over several months to finish. Once finished, Peter wanted to share this piece of art with others and donated it to a local school (where it now remains in their Adoration chapel).

During this time, a few other faith-based images were created and gifted to family members.

Our Aspirations

Our Catholic faith has been a central part of our lives, both as single individuals and now as a married couple. Our greatest desire is for our family to be in eternal union with God. We want to share this yearning with others and believe our God-given talents are the avenue for such work.

Our prayer petition is that those who view these images see God’s Glory in them and are encouraged and motivated to glorify and honor Him, who is The Creator.

As parents, we believe the greatest gifts we can offer our daughter are love (in ways Christ exemplified for us) and knowledge of God. Pursuing Catholic Woodworking LLC allows us, as parents, to surround our daughter with beautiful Catholic images and demonstrate how to utilize our talents and resources to glorify God.
